Memories

Flowers bloom
in a misty graveyard.
Pictures speak
in a lonely home.
Music flows
on a chilled wind.
Lights fade
into darkness.
And breath deserts
a corpse’s lips,
but the echo never fades.

The Echo Never Fades was a poem written by Tyler Caruso, a high school student at
St. Charles East High School Wind Ensemble in St. Charles, Illinois, before he died.
His band director, James Kull, asked David R.Gullingham to compose a piece of music titled
“The Echo Never Fades” in remembrance of him. The song is now the last piece of music
played every year at the Spring Concert at Hendrickson High School in honor of the graduating
class to remind everyone that even though we have left the band we are still going to be remembered.
