She starred down into his bright blue eyes
Wondering if he would be another green eyed monster.
He blinked and yawned signaling he was tired;
And she smiled because she knew
That no ocean would ever come between them.
She watched with pride as he took his first steps,
Racing to his side when he fell to the ground.v
He cried and reached for his mom for support;
And she smiled because she knew
That no matter where he went he would always need her.
She attended to him on his first day of school,
Making sure he was prepared and trying to not make him nervous.
He searched and found the courage to begin his fifteen year journey through school;
And she cried tears of joy because she knew
Her baby boy would walk across that stage in the end.
He starred into his mom's teary blue eyes
Wondering what thoughts were going through her head.
She blinked and wiped the ocean tears from her face;
And he smiled because he knew
That no ocean would ever come between them.
To raise a child for 18 years and then to watch your baby grow up in one summer is hard...
This is dedicated to my mom and my brother; who, for those who don't know, is leaving
for the Navy Sept. 9th... I hope she knows that he seriously does love her, he loves
her more than all the drops of water on this earth combined. I also hope that my brother
knows that what his mom has been doing is because she wants him to be happy and to not
regret his decisions that he has made on his journey to be a man, which I believe he
will never fully understand until he has watched his own son grow in the blink of an eye.
